Identifying Chevy Manual Transmissions

Here’s a page that just posted (Yikes! other guys are looking for girlie pictures, and I’m Googling for Transmission dope.)

NastyZ28 (You can’t make up these names. The guy wants to be known by this name.) published this guide and seems to have covered all the bases.

Take a look over here:

Dave: Glad to know there is a place that puts out quality and detail in their work. Question: I have a 1970 Chevrolet 3/4 ton C20 long bed. It has the original 292 six, 4 speed w/granny gear and what I think is a HO72 rear. Mayber HO52???

Question is, what transmission do I have? The underbelly is deep w/ a drain plug at the extreme rear under the tail shaft and the fill hole on the middle/lower drivers side. No side linkage. Any numbers I might locate? Also, it seams to shift a little rough. When going into gears I feel interference before reaching full engagement. I have changed the 80w – 90w and filled it. I will be putting some Lucas stabilizer to smooth it out. Othewise it works well. thx. Louie in El Paso. P.S. Do you sell Rock Crushers and/or Ford Top Loaders outright?
