Good News and Bad News
A new customer brought in his transmission, explaining that it was making noise, so he wanted to get it re-built. He’s an older fellow and his buggy is a driver he likes to take care of, but isn’t destined to be a trailer babe.
So, we opened it up and got to work on it the next week. OOPS! We had a problem right away, so I called him before I did anything to the tranny.
“Well, I have good news and bad news.”
“The good news is that you have a rare tranny here, a Muncie M22 Rock Crusher. So I’m recommending that you have me re-build it, but preserve it as a Rock Crusher. Now, the bad news is that the tranny will always be noisy if I do this. You see, that’s why it is called a Rock Crusher. It sounds like you are crushing rocks in the tranny.
You could also sell this tranny, and buy a new quiet tranny that will work quite nicely for your driving.”
“Do you want to think about it and let me know?”
I love getting the chance to make a call like this. Doncha’ love it?!?
